Traffic lights being replaced EW hwy and Pearl St.

I just noticed that they are replacing the traffic lights at the corner of East-West highway and Pearl St. This is right as you are coming into downtown Bethesda, MD at the McDonalds. Instead of posts on all the corners, there is going to be one post and a boom going across the intersection. It is one long boom too, going diagonally across pretty much the whole intersection. The old poles were peeling and rusting so this is needed maintenance.
